FVCC Celebrates 50th Anniversary of Moon Landing with Author Event
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11’s historic lunar feat, the FVCC Library is hosting an author event with Jonathan Fetter-Vorm on Thursday, July 18 at 6:30 p.m.
Fetter-Vorm is the author of the recently published “Moonbound: Apollo 11 and the Dream of Spaceflight,” a graphic novel about humankind’s first-ever moon landing. In July 1969, astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first people to step foot on the moon’s surface.
In addition to a conversation with Fetter-Vorm about the creation of his book, the family-friendly event will feature space-related activities organized by Code Girls United, Flathead Valley Rocket Rally and the FVCC Library, including a trivia contest with questions about the moon landing. Attendees will also have the opportunity to experience lunar travel in the FVCC Library’s virtual reality lab.
Free and open to the community, the event will take place in FVCC’s new Broussard Family Library and Learning Commons, adjacent to the Broussard Center for Nursing and Health Science on the Kalispell campus.
Signed books will be available for purchase at the event. For more information, contact FVCC Library Services Director Susan Matter at 756-3853 or smatter@fvcc.edu.
