STEM Colloquium | Google Quantum Computation (The Willow Chip): Sensational vs Lay vs Academic Article

February 28 @ 12:00 pm - 12:50 pm

Broussard Library Classrooms, BL214/215
Speaker: Mike Severino, PhD

Errors are one of the greatest challenges in quantum computing, since qubits, the units of computation in quantum computers, have a tendency to rapidly exchange information with their environment, making it difficult to protect the information needed to complete a computation. Typically the more qubits you use, the more errors will occur, and the system becomes classical. We take a look at the claims made about the willow chip from a sensational article vs an academic one.
