Medical Assistant (CAS)

The FVCC Medical Assistant program prepares you for entry-level roles in clinics and physicians' offices. You will train to perform both clinical and administrative tasks, acting as a versatile partner to healthcare providers. As the demand for medical assistants continues to grow, this certificate provides the professional skills needed to enter a stable and essential career field.

Certificate of Applied Science (CAS)

Length: 3 semesters

The 32-credit curriculum covers topics like phlebotomy, EKG testing, medical billing and pharmacology. Your training concludes with a 180-hour summer externship to gain practical experience in a real-world setting. After finishing the coursework, you will be eligible to take the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) exam to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).

I graduated with my MA certificate and will be returning in the fall as part of the radiologic technology program. I chose to continue here because it feels like I belong here, thanks to the amazing faculty and staff.
